The bulletin gives details of the major new campaign which UNISON is launching to propose our alternative for the future of probation.
UNISON has a clear alternative to the Government’s plans set out in ‘Strengthening Probation, Building Confidence’. Whereas the Government wants to continue with the disastrous split in Probation and to reward the CRC owners with even bigger private contracts.
Our campaign aims to see Probation reconstructed as a locally run, locally managed and locally democratically accountable service, free from the centralising tendency and control of HMPPS.
Probation is going to change in 2020 come what may. UNISON aims to make the change a positive one.
