UNISON Cymru Wales Press Comments

Two comments have been provided to the press today: head of health Donna Hutton to BBC Wales about PPE concerns and regional secretary Tanya Palmer to Press Association about Welsh Government’s announcement today it plans to introduce a two-metre social distancing law for places of work.

PPE concerns

Donna Hutton, UNISON Cymru Wales head of health said,

“Front-line staff across Wales in the health service, social care and elsewhere, have been desperate to receive the right personal protective equipment for their job and for definitive guidance on how they should protect themselves.

“Advice has now been issued by government along with a commitment on protective equipment. Welsh health boards need to ensure this crucial information reaches every single member of staff, so they know they are properly protected.

“If any healthcare worker continues to experience problems, they should be brought to UNISON’s attention and we can ensure health boards resolve them straight-away.”
