The NPCC Lead for LGBT+, ACC Julie Cooke, announced on 12 November the launch of a new Trans Guidance for the Policing Sector. This guidance has been developed for all Police Forces to use when supporting officers and staff who wish to, or have transitioned. The Tool Kit consists of four documents which includes an Overview of Transitioning, Transition Guidance for the Individual, Transition Guidance for the Manager and Glossary of Terms.
The Toolkit has been funded by the Police Superintendents Association, Surrey Police and Police & Crime Commissioner EDHR lead, Mr David Munro, and produced in partnership with Stonewall. UNISON was consulted as part of the production of the Toolkit and we have endorsed the publications. The Toolkit is intended to provide a consistent approach to supporting Trans police staff and officers and their supervisors in the workplace. UNISON is specifically referenced in the Transition Guidance for Individuals.
